My Novel’s Odyssey Begins

The door to traditional publishing opens

Something amazing thing happened to me.

“Good morning. I have a few questions.”

Her voice, warm but focused, quickened my breathing. Questions about what? The story? Proposal? Be ready to answer. Be smooth. I grabbed a pencil and the nearest piece of paper.

“Do you have an agent?”

My heart pounded.

“No.” Why is she asking me — ?

“I need to grab the right one.”

Wait. Did I ask why out loud? Ugh. Not smooth.

“You can do the Snoopy happy dance now. We’re offering you a contract.”

Time stopped.

What? No. Really? I did it? “Wow.”

She chuckled. “Congratulations.”

Yup, my first novel is going to be published. Woo hoo! This call was a week ago, and I’m still in awe.

We had a little contract signing party with a few family members. So fun. It doesn’t seem real yet. I’m sure once the editing starts, reality will set in. Will it feel like work?

“Stay tuned.”

I could use some company on my new publishing adventure. Maybe some advice too?

Will you join me?
